Staying Present with the Seasons
This is truly one of my favorite topics especially when someone asks what my favorite season is or they share theirs. I am also fascinated by how we can have a favorite season but then really hate another. I find it quite fascinating honestly.
I used to be one who only loved one season and just kinda ignored the other seasons. But, look, the more I learn, the more I love each season. So let me dive into a few things here for you to help you maybe restructure your view about the seasons of the earth (and even the seasons as a biological women).
Okay so we can all agree that there are four seasons of the earth: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Can we all also agree that there is a theme to each season. A reason behind; something that not only do we inhertantly follow as humans but so does the animal and earthly kingdom? Can we agree to this?
Spring - The time for new beginnings, growth, and renewal. It is the time we all plant the flowers, sow the seeds, the earth is reawakening. The true start to the new year. A time for setting intentions, starting new projects, feeling more energized.
Summer - the time where all of our energy is at its peak. The vegetation is on full power, the animals are fed and strong. There is a lot of warmth and abundance at this time of year. A time for engagement, celebration and fullness.
Autumn - Things start to slow down a little. All harvests are ready for collection, its a time for reflection and preparation for the cold. A time to gather and reflect.
Winter - everything has slowed down to its slowest, and or little to no growth. It is a time for rest, quiet, and introspection. We are asked to let go, reset and just rest.
Following me do far? Do yo agree? Do you see how each Earthly season has theme to it, you feel it as you move through each one. More importantly do you see how each one is important for us to stay connected with and engage with and follow?
Side topic before we go further, I think a lot can be said about someone who hates a certain season and loves another. I don’t think its a bad thing, but it does give insight in my opinion into what they struggle with and what they find ease with or desire more of. For instance, I now love all the seasons however, I do favor Autumn more and rank the hight of summer and some of winter as my least favorite. We won’t unpack that here but its just an example.
I now want to dive into explaining that not only are their seasons to the earth/our year but the moon cycles are aligned with the seasons so are each biological woman’s cycle. To me this just adds to the conformation that aligning yourself with the seasons, finding a flow with each one is a natural and easy way to flow through life. It can bring ease and understanding to how and why things occur.
New Moon - Menstrual Phase (day 1-5) - Winter (5 days)
New Moon marks a time of darkness and quiet just like Winter does. Its a time for rest, reflection and letting go. (Sounds familiar). Women experience the exact same feelings and desire during this time of our monthly cycle. Lets slow down, rest, a little solitude just as nature rests during the seasonal winter.
Waxing Moon - Follicular Phase (day 6-14) - Spring (9 days)
Waxing Moon marks a time for growth, renewal, and energy increase. Our womanly bodies start preparing for another round of ovulation which brings and increase in energy. Much like Spring brings.
Full Moon - Ovulation Phase (day 14-16) - Summer (3 days)
The height of energy, the brightest of times, when the moons energy is at its highest. Same as in Summer the peak of energy. Mirrored beautifully in women when we often feel our most extroverted and confident.
Waning Moon - Luteal Phase (day 17-28) - Autumn (12 days)
Again, energy dropping, time to look inwards. The moon reflects this, nature reflects this and even our women reflect this when this time of our cycle comes.
(the only thing I would change here personally is that the start of our cycle is really at the start of the Follicular Phase instead of at the Menstrual Phase. Its just easier to find a concrete time to determine when each phase starts when we physically start bleeding - semantics though)
Can you see how not only if you are a women how important and powerful it can be to align to not only the Earthly seasons, but the Moon seasons as well as your own personal seasons. Aligning your calendar, work schedule, exercise, spiritual practices, etc to these seasons can lead to a fulfilling and aligned life.
Not to mention lets go back to what I was saying earlier, pay attention to which ones are your favorite and least favorite as this can give an indication on where work or trauma need let go of.
Men I havn’t forgotten about you. You are just as affected by the seasonal and moony cycles as women are. You will find your energy abs and flows as well. One of the beautiful differences though between men and women though, is you lovely protective men align more with the Sun then the Moon. Therefore, you will find your energy aligns with a daily cycle verses more of a monthly cycle. (example Morning = Spring, Mid Morn/early Afternoon = Summer, Afternoon/Evening = Autumn and Night= Winter.
With all that being said no matter what gender you align with we are all effected by the Earthly Seasonal (Year), Moonly Cycle (Monthly), Womanly internal cycles, and Daily cycles changes. If we all take a little time to learn these cycles, how we show up in each, when each phase usually occurs of reach of us… just imagine how elevated, connected, productive and aligned your life will become.
Let me know your view. Aho,
Courtney
