Meet the Spirit of Cacao

Yes I am talking about the spirit of Chocolate.

In my Shamanic Mentorship we did a ceremony to meet and experience the beautiful spirit of Cacao. It was surprising packed full of love, hugs, and comfort that I wanted to share a few things I learned.

First thing first, Cacao has been abused over the decades and continues to be. Not only in growing of the plant, but in harvesting, its utilization and consumption. Is this really a surprise, though, the more our society is “modernized” the more we seem to move away from older traditions and our connection with the spirits around us. Anywho, we could argue and debate over what to do about it but all I can really do is be as mindful as possible on the companies I buy Cacao or Chocolate from and be at peace with that.

Let us move on.

Entering into ceremony with Her (Cacao), it was like meeting a that country grandma we all kind of wish we had. If I had meet her unperson I would imagine she would have a fresh baked pie on the counter all the time. She always knew how to comfort any “boo-boo”. She always had a comforting and inspiring thing to say. She would have a soft, comforting presence about her that just made you want to stay in her hugs all the time.

This sounds very similar to how we tend to feel when we consume chocolate doesn’t it?

One of the things, well two things really, that I took away from the ceremony was that yes the plant is overused and abused these days but its because our society is lacking in connection based love. This sort of unconditional love and comfort is what the Spirit of Cacao is here to help provide. Part of what is missing is that we need to pause and take a breath when consuming her.

Part of what Plant medicines are here for is to help guide us to items we are missing, or share with us an experience so we have first hand experience and can make adjustments in life.

The other item I took away from the ceremony is even though there can be over use of Her, she isn’t mad about it at all. She is perfectly okay with it. To me this speaks volumes to the amount of love she has for us. And yes, to me, the Spirit of Cacao is a feminine energetic signature.

She did ask and demonstrated to me that she does wish that as we consume her, we take a moment to breath. A moment to absorb that love, comfort and hugs she supplies for us when we consume her various forms; whether that’s in hot chocolate, chocolate bar, chocolate sauce, etc.

I came out of this ceremony with a realization that taking part in ceremony can be a very simple and straightforward thing to do everyday. All you need to do to have a ceremony really is to be deeply present in the moment and set an intention. Now we can go deeper into what ceremonies are and how some can be conducted, but it can be a very simple things to do.

So next time you find yourself enjoying a piece of chocolate, take a breath, set an intention, be present and allow for the Spirit of Cacao to give you the biggest, warmest hug ever; most likely what you are exactly looking for.

Aho,

Courtney
